Why I’m Skipping the iPhone 16 and Waiting for the iPhone 17

Introduction

The iPhone 16 has just hit the market, but I’ve decided to pass on it and wait for the iPhone 17 instead. While the iPhone 16 offers some notable improvements, I’m holding out for what’s coming next. Apple’s rumored changes for the iPhone 17 are exactly what I’ve been waiting for, and here’s why.

120Hz for All Models, Not Just Pro

One of the main reasons I’m waiting for the iPhone 17 is the possibility that Apple will finally bring the 120Hz refresh rate, which is currently exclusive to the Pro models, to all versions of the iPhone. Having that ultra-smooth scrolling and fluid animations without needing to go for the Pro version is a game-changer for me. The 120Hz display makes a noticeable difference in day-to-day use, whether you’re gaming, watching videos, or simply scrolling through apps. If Apple brings this feature to the standard iPhone 17, it’s worth the wait.

Switching to the Number Versions for a Lighter Device

Another reason I’m skipping the iPhone 16 is that I prefer the standard “number” models over the Pro versions, as they’re typically lighter and more comfortable to use daily. The iPhone Pro models are great, but they tend to be a bit bulkier due to their premium materials and extra features. I’ve always valued portability, and I’m expecting the iPhone 17 to continue that trend of being lighter than its Pro counterparts, making it more convenient for everyday use without sacrificing too much power.

Camera: Not a Priority for Me

While many are excited about Apple’s continuous camera improvements, it’s not a feature that I particularly care about. The iPhone’s camera is already more than good enough for my needs, and I don’t spend much time taking professional-quality photos. Whether it’s the iPhone 16 or iPhone 17, I’m not looking for a groundbreaking camera upgrade. For me, other features like performance, design, and usability take precedence.

So, while I recognize that some people will love the new camera tech, it’s not something that influences my decision to wait for the iPhone 17. If Apple doesn’t change much about the camera in the next model, that’s perfectly fine by me.

A More Balanced Upgrade

The iPhone 16, while great, doesn’t offer enough of a leap from previous models to justify the upgrade for me. With the iPhone 17, I’m hoping for a more balanced set of features across the entire lineup, making the regular version feel like less of a compromise compared to the Pro. If Apple brings ProMotion (120Hz) to the standard model and maintains the lightweight design, the iPhone 17 will strike the perfect balance for my needs.

Conclusion: Worth the Wait

While the iPhone 16 is tempting, I’ve decided to hold out for the iPhone 17. The possibility of a 120Hz display on the non-Pro version and the promise of a lighter, more balanced device make it worth the wait. For now, I’ll stick with iPhone 14 Pro , knowing that the iPhone 17 will bring the improvements I truly care about — while skipping over the camera upgrades I don’t need.

In the end, patience is key, and I’m confident that waiting for the iPhone 17 will pay off in a big way.
